The tour showed the representatives first-hand the energy challenges faced by food manufacturing — and showcased what businesses are doing to improve energy reliability, meet the net-zero targets in place in their business and/or in their export markets, and reduce a key operating cost.
The group toured Noumi and SPC Global in Shepparton, Redland in Mooroopna, Kagome in Echuca and Unilever in Tatura.
The tour also included glasshouses, intensive dairy, and the significant energy and manufacturing investments by dairy, horticulture, meat processing and other manufacturers and processors in Kyabram, Tongala and Girgarre.
The guests included ministers’ chief of staffs, company chief executive officers and Department of Energy Environment and Climate Action staff.
The committee said they looked forward to continuing to work with the tour members to progress opportunities and shape policy to support the success of regional manufacturing.
SPC Global in Shepparton, Redland in Mooroopna, Kagome in Echuca and Unilever in Tatura were on the tour agenda.
