Thank you for printing the letter from Aub Reddrop entitled 'Fill Greens Lake, not the ocean' (Country News, March 22) — what a wonderful suggestion.
Greens Lake was an excellent fishing spot at one time but now some 'small-minded' bureaucrat wants it all ended.
They can't have people enjoying themselves or small communities making some income from the tourism generated by adding water to Greens Lake.
It should be regarded as a criminal act to allow the abundant water we have now to flow into the oceans.
Instead of storing ‘environmental water’ in Hume and Eildon weirs taking up space for irrigators’ needs, surely some of this water can be used in Greens Lake to be used for recreational purposes.
They might even be able to find a few megalitres for the little lake at Numurkah — yes, it is also part of the environment.
Can we have the names of the people responsible for implementing these disastrous water and environmental policies so that we might rid ourselves of them?
Thank you Mr Reddrop for highlighting these horrible government policies.
Louis Cook, Numurkah
