On September 3, it was ‘Gannawarra mayor delivers buyback truths’ (page 2) and ‘Time for farmers to rally is now’ (page 3).
Mayor Stanton speaks the truth about life in the Murray Valley but who is listening? The people of Gannawarra Shire are lucky to have him as the local government leader.
In Moira Shire we have unelected bureaucrats selected by the state government — I suppose that is democracy ‘Labor style’!
In the other report on page 3, the NFF spokesman, pushing for a rally in Canberra, says the time for taking action is now — mate, where have you been? The time for action was 52 years ago!
If all the NFF members were in the one electorate, there would not be enough of them to influence the sitting member.
Adding to the mayor’s comments, in the last 50 years we have seen an escalating rural debt coupled with a decline in the number of farmers supporting the debt.
Rural towns are struggling to maintain necessary services in health and education, to name a couple of important needs, while government financial demands continue to escalate at the inflation rate.
The demands on communities are such that it is difficult to gain volunteers in many facets of ‘community living’ — have you ever wondered why?
The politicians have a policy that everyone must work; remember Julia Gillard’s ‘jobs and growth’ — it is the driving policy of all the parties.
The Reserve Bank of Australia is commissioned to a program for full employment.
The break-up of society is not the fault of children roaming the streets or the unrestricted drug use in communities, but the sloppy governance by the people we elect.
We must be rid of them!
One way to achieve this is to vote any sitting member last!
Don’t give them another go to represent you.
