I read Cr John Zobec’s scathing report in relation to the Wilf Cox Pavilion in last week’s Free Press.
On the very next page I read how the Campaspe Shire Council is initiating a ‘Community Consultation Program’.
The aim will be to gather ideas from the community on how best to spend our ratepayer dollars.
These two articles appear to be referring to the same Campaspe Shire, but their approach to dealing with ratepayers is totally different.
I suppose ‘consultation’ doesn’t account for much in a council meeting.
It doesn’t necessarily persuade those that are unsympathetic to parts of our community.
The points raised by Cr Zobec do little to strengthen my faith in democracy.

Park objection
Jennifer Gibson, Kyabram
I would like to submit a letter to the editor re my objection for the Edis Park dog park project.
I’m now in the process of photographing the park at different times, and apart from one or two people, the park is empty.
Campaspe Shire Council is going to use taxpayer money by spending it on upgrading the park to a enclosed, off-leash dog park.
Ms Edis sold it originally to the council on the conditions that it was to be a dog park and for the Kyabram residents.
The council has not notified the residents nor have they advertised their plans for the work they want to do.
I think they have used smoke and mirrors.
