A man in his 70s was arrested on Monday following a series of fires between Shepparton and Mooroopna this month.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested the 76-year-old Mooroopna resident on May 12 after 11 fires were allegedly deliberately lit in Greater Shepparton bushland.
The fires, which were started between May 1 and May 12, impacted several plants, trees and grassland close to shared walking paths near the Peter Ross-Edwards Causeway on the Midland Hwy.
They posed no threat to properties.
The man is expected to be charged on summons with intentionally causing bushfires.
Shepparton police said the investigation was a joint effort between its Crime Investigation Unit, CFA and Forest Fire Management Victoria.
Police continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed any of these incidents, or has CCTV/dashcam footage or information, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au
