Leyden joined Blighty at the end of 2023 from Echuca United, and soon proved himself as one of the club’s strongest players.
It earned him the senior Best & Fairest medal at the end of the 2024 season.
Leyden will be hoping to build on efforts made this year, where he coached alongside Adrian Timmis.
One of his firsts tasks will be drawing more players to the club.
Having spent time in the Morning Peninsula League with Dromana and the NTFL with Palmerston, Leyden will bring a wealth of knowledge the Redeyes have been looking for in their leadership roles.
The coaching announcement was made ahead of the club’s AGM, which will be held next Tuesday, October 29.
Helping to finalise important roles and responsibilities for 2025, it will be held at the Blighty Recreation Reserve from 7pm.
