It wasn’t enough and the home side passed the total with just four wickets down.
Sent into bat, Patrick Lavis and Dan Christian started off well with 0/22, however the positive start didn’t last long after some confusion at the crease.
Former captain Jarred Lane was Corowa’s best bat for the day posting 22 runs to the tally, followed by Matt Wilson (17) and Joe Hansen (11) who batted with confidence. Unfortunately, no one else stuck around long enough for us to post a total to defend.
The bowlers had their work set out with only 85 runs in the bank, Dan Christian and Jarryd Hatton worked hard but unfortunately couldn’t break through North’s defence.
Young gun Jay Lavis and Mark Athanitis were able to come away with two wickets each, however North’s strong batting line-up was able to reach the required total before the Roos could make too much of an impact.

Round six saw Corowa welcoming North Albury to Ball Park, with what would be a crucial match for Corowa needing a win to gain some momentum.
Winning the toss, Corowa elected to bowl first with Melksham and Williams. With an early break through to Melksham and some tight bowling from Williams, runs were hard to come by, the fielding was much improved from last week, with not much getting through.
Eales made the most of this collecting 3 wickets from his 7 over spell with Phibbs. Athanitis, Joe Lavis and Eyers chiming in with wickets, North were soon 9 down for not much more than 100.
Eales was then brought back to take the last wicket, finishing with 4/51 from his 7.3 overs.
With everyone playing their part with the ball, North finished up on 124.
Chasing down 124 a seemingly low total, looked easy, but with North and Corowa games always going to the wire, Corowa had to be on the ball.
Massey and Keenes opened up, Keenes the first to go for 4. Massey looking the goods, playing some lovely shots before unlucky being given out caught.
A steady flow of wickets saw us on par with North, Carr batting well, the ship looked to be steadied with he and Athanitis looking to get us home.
Another couple of wickets put us back in trouble, 8 down still needing 20 odd, Eales and Doug Lavis closed in on the target, before Eales fell for 11.
Still needing 9 the pressure was on, with Phibbs and Lavis at the crease, no mistakes could be made!
Phibbs, then hit a wide loose ball for four leaving 5 needed. The end of the over saw Lavis back on strike, hitting the ball firmly to mid off, a crucial missfield and another two ticked off the deficit!
Three to win, a dot ball, the next ball full and wide Lavis calmly slotted the ball through the covers for a boundary, a huge relief and a much-needed victory against the third placed North as Corowa finished 9-126
C Grade
Corowa C-Grade (Division 1) marched to its fourth win of the season with a solid win over Belvoir at South Corowa.
Belvoir enjoyed some good partnerships, but Corowa skipper Blayre Smith kept throwing the ball around in the hot conditions and the strategy paid off.
Fourth-change Cody Kuschert got a wicket caught and bowled in his first over while Jacob Fuge took the top of off-stump with the first ball of his second spell.
In all Corowa used nine bowlers to get the job done, Danny Osborne, Fuge and Kuschert taking two wickets apiece as Belvoir made 156.
Karvan Silva’s leg spinners snared one scalp, a full toss beating the defences, while Matt Goodall and Caleb Kuschert also got in the wicket-takers column.
The fielding effort was a bit sloppy, though, with five-plus catches going down and Smith rueing a target which was probably 40 runs higher than he would have liked.
Thankfully, Lachie Raggett was into the side this week and the opener took the edge off the run chase with a typically positive 36 before having to retire hurt after re-aggravating a hand injury.
Luke Kuschert kept the scoreboard ticking nicely over with 27 while Osborne grasped his opportunity up the order with 24 to ensure Corowa stayed in control.
Some late wickets fell but Corowa reached the target with three wickets and six overs to spare, Ollie Collins (14*) guiding the side home.
Under 16s
On Friday night the 16s boys took on St Pats at Howlong. Batting first on a tricky wicket Brodie Eyers and Tyler Abley got the boys off to a flyer. At drinks the boys were 0/80. Brodie was dismissed shortly after drinks for a well-made 44. A couple quick wickets fell, and the boys were on the back foot.
Tyler fought through to make a well-deserved 50. At the 35th over the boys were disappointingly bowled all out for 135. Next week they look to defend their total and bring home the chocolates.
Under 14s Div 1
Corowa Div 1 U14s travelled to Wodonga to play Belvoir in the first two dayer for the season. Belvoir was won the toss and sent Corowa into bat.
Riley Barber and a travel weary Harry Norman opening the batting with Harry departing early. Will Forrest was promoted to 3 and looked solid before being run out. Austin came and went quickly. Franklin earnt a promotion after hard hitting net session made and entertaining 39. Riley made a patient 50 before retiring. The runs continued to flow from the middle order with Will Massey making a hard hitting 21no including a towering 6. Corowa finished the day at 6/191 including 51 extras.
Under 14s Div 2
For the first two-day match of the year, it was shaping to be a hot day and thankfully we won our first toss of the year and elected to bat.
Cal and Abe opened the batting with Cal getting off to a quick start before Abe got the ball of the day to be bowled middle stump in the first over.
After 26 not out last week Josh Kremmer came to the crease and started where he left off last week hitting 10 before he copped a knock on his knee and hat to retire hurt bringing Charlie to the crease.
During this time Cal was going about his business building his tally.
Cal and Charlie combined well at the wicket building a strong partnership until Cal retired on 50 with the score on 1/107. Cal’s retirement saw a mini collapse with the team going from 1/107 to 5/127 with Billy Barlow being stumped.
Charlie was anchoring the middle order before he was caught on 34 with the team on 150 with 4 overs remaining. Oliver McLellan stuck around for 7 runs before going out in the 39th over bringing Cal back in with Nate Kuschert to push the score to 7/171 at the end of our 40 overs.
Under 12s Div 1 White
This week saw Corowa White host Howlong Red at Corowa high.
Captain for the week Jacko sent the Spiders into bat after winning the toss.
With both Howlong openers retiring it wasn’t until the 9th over that the first wicket was taken by George Smith. This got the ball rolling with some good bowling was to follow and restrict the batting team to a total of 5/62. A really great team bowling effort and it showed in the scorebook with 5 different wicket takers in Kasey Rhodes, George Smith, Albie Wood, Finn Douglas and Jaxon Collins all snaring one and no bowler going for anymore that 9 runs.
After the batting line up was sorted it was Cal Corcoran and captain Jacko who took to the crease to begin the run chase.
Unfortunately, both went cheap which bought Archie Rhodes and George Smith together. The boys got control back momentarily and both went on to retire.
The game then took another turn with some quick wickets lost and scoring at a minimum it was again in the balance.
But it was a good knock by Albie and Archie on his return that eventually got the runs sorted and got the team to 6/93 off the 20 overs. Albie 6, George 19 and Archie 47 all not out were the main contributors with the bat. Next week back to Balldale to take on Barunduda.
Under 12s Div 1 Blue
Corowa Blue took on the lowly St Pat's White and recorded another great win.
Bowling first, the boys bowled tight lines for the most part and made scoring difficult for the Patties lads. Ollie Matthews took the first two wickets in his first over and finished with three for. Leo and Lucas were the other wicket takers (one each) and we restricted St Pat's to six for 63.
Leo and Darcy opened the batting and took off from where the boys left off last week running really well between the wickets. Leo got a corker and was bowled for four. Darcy and Taity kept the score ticking over and both retired with Darcy on 15 and Lucas six. Corowa passed the score in the 14th over. Nathias retired on 18, Abe and Jagger finished not out on 12 and two.
Under 12s Div 2
The side went down in their clash with Albury. Bowling first Max Tull with 3 for 8 bowled well, long with Sam Bellette with 2 for 10 and Billy Witherden with 2 for 5 as Albury made 91. In reply Corowa made 69 with Jack Timms making 18 and was supported by Tom Bonnitcha with 7.
