The Resource Manager for northern Victoria has announced an update to seasonal determinations.
The Murray system seasonal determination increases from 75 per cent of high-reliability water shares (HRWS) to 82 per cent HRWS.
The Goulburn and Loddon systems increase from 57 per cent to 65 per cent.
The seasonal determination for Campaspe system low-reliability water shares (LRWS) increases from 64 per cent LRWS to 69 per cent LRWS. The Campaspe system also has 100 per cent HRWS.
In the Broken system, the LRWS seasonal determination increases from 0 per cent LRWS to 60 per cent alongside 100 per cent high reliability.
The Bullarook system is unchanged with 100 per cent HRWS and 100 per cent LRWS.
Resource Manager Mark Bailey said rainfall in early October supported the seasonal determination increases.
“Flows into the major storages increased after the rainfall, increasing the resources available for the seasonal determinations,” Dr Bailey said.
“The benefits will persist for several weeks and are included in today’s updates.”
For the NSW Murray district, general security increased by 2 per cent on October 1, taking the seasonal allocation to 30 per cent.
NSW Murray supplementary water allocations were increased to 120 per cent on September 15.
This assessment is based on NSW's share of storage volumes as of August 31 and observed inflows to September 21, then tapering towards minimum inflows to September 30. The assessment budgets for minimum inflows arriving at headwater storages from October 2026 to May 2027.
With the general security allocation now reaching 30 per cent in NSW Murray, any new resource improvements from next assessment will be set aside to repay the Barmah-Millewa Allowance. The outstanding balance as of September 1 is 201 GL.
