The 20-year-old Australian's three-set victory over the returning 44-year-old legend, in a Centre Court match that grabbed the attention of the sports world, has transported Joint in just a couple of hours into a new league of fame.
Likely now - as Ajla Tomljanovic was before her - to be known as the last player ever to beat the sport's greatest player, Joint has reminded tennis why last year she was being enthused about as one of the best young talents in the game as she picked up two WTA trophies as a teenager.
But in the middle of a horror spell of 13 losses in 14 matches, stretching back to January, the lowest point was when she lost to Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet in a minor event in Paris at the start of June and thought to herself: "Oh, should I be doing this anymore?"
On Tuesday, she gave herself the definitive answer.
Reflecting on that trying spell after her 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 win over Williams, Joint, still seeming a little dazed by the magnitude of the victory, admitted: "I think every tennis player at some point in their life thinks they don't want to play anymore, but, you know, this sport is my life. I love it.
"I'd always dreamt of this moment to play Serena Williams, Centre Court, Wimbledon. I never thought I'd get the chance to do that. I think I'm very lucky to have been able to do that."
And she has no doubt that the win could be a game-changer for her.
"I think it just gives me some confidence that I have been searching for for a while, just proving to myself that I can win and I'm still at the top level," Joint said.
The last time she really demonstrated her true potential was in the Eastbourne WTA final on grass on the Saturday before last year's Wimbledon, when she defeated Filipino star Alexandra Eala 12-10 in a final-set tiebreak after saving four championship points.
Now, the pair will meet gain in the second round at Wimbledon, with Joint looking forward to a rematch.
"I'm surprised we haven't played each other since. We have been in pretty much all the same tournaments,'' Joint said.
"We had an amazing, epic match last time we played in Eastbourne and I'm expecting the same kind of match this time.
"I'm really excited, it's really going to be really fun."
