The blaze, which sparked on Sunday night at Dolphin Sands, prompted several emergency warnings but was at a downgraded watch-and-act level on Tuesday.
Two homes, two sheds and a car were destroyed, while power lines were brought down and other properties damaged.
One resident said they used sprinklers to douse flames which reached the back deck of their house.
The Dolphin Sands fire destroyed at least two homes with damage assessments ongoing.
Tasmania Fire Service operations officer Kier Wilson said wind conditions were favourable on Tuesday morning.
"Fresh crews are being deployed as we continue to work to make the area safe," she said.
Ground crews and more than a dozen fire trucks on Monday battled the blaze as it jumped containment lines.
It is the second serious bushfire in recent months on Tasmania's east coast, after a blaze in September tore through a campground at Friendly Beaches and forced people to evacuate.
Dolphin Sands Road, the only road servicing the coastal community, remains closed at Yellow Sandbanks Road.
Damage assessments are ongoing and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Power was restored to properties on Monday night.
