About 420 people gathered to farewell Mr Pianto, who died on August 16, at the age of 54, after an about 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
His son Matt, and other mates told stories about hunting and fishing trips, exploits in his job as a livestock agent, his prowess on the football field and funny misadventures in his youth.
The speakers included Trevor Down, Dave Ceglar, Di Davies, Craig Lloyd, Andrew Kyle, brother Peter Pianto, James Gray and Deb Bagley.
Mr Pianto knew his time was short in the past few weeks and he recorded photo tributes to his wife, Nikki, son Matt and daughter-in-law Amanda.
The funeral ended with a recorded video clip of Mr Pianto inviting mourners to stay around for a beer.
At the Shepparton Regional saleyards last week, a minute's silence was observed before one of Mr Pianto's steers was auctioned to raise money for the Peter Copulos Cancer and Wellness Centre in Shepparton.
The auction raised $4250, plus a further $2000 was added by Goulburn Valley Stock Agents Association.
