Avenel Preps celebrate ‘remarkable’ growth

Wearing grey moustaches, flat caps and suspenders, the students marked 100 days in style.

Avenel Primary School principal Christine Hyde said it had been incredibly rewarding to watch the students grow in confidence, embrace school routines and form strong friendships.

“Our students transitioned exceptionally well into primary school,” Ms Hyde said.

“Through strong partnerships with families and early learning services, children arrived feeling supported and ready to learn.

“Their confidence has continued to grow as they have become independent learners who actively participate in every aspect of school life.”

Reflecting on the past 100 days, Preps shared their favourite memories, with Torsten saying “Superhero Day was my favourite”, and Audrey loving “playtime ... and using bubbles outside”.

When it comes to their favourite things about school, Austin said “I like writing sentences”, while Hazel said “I like getting a sticker from the sticker box and playing outside”.

Henry enjoys writing on the whiteboards, while Indie’s favourite part of school is encouraging others.

Ms Hyde said the children’s growth had been “remarkable”, with students already beginning to read books and solve mathematical problems.

“Alongside these academic achievements, they have built friendships, participated in specialist classes, enjoyed whole-school events and become active members of the Avenel Primary School community,” she said.

“Seeing their excitement when they read a book independently or proudly share their writing has been one of the greatest highlights for our staff.”
