The annual general meeting will be held on the Friday morning, with the conference starting at 1pm and running through to Saturday evening.
CWA state president Jennifer Nola said members can expect to be put to work.
“We have a new strategic plan from 2024-28, and members will be doing some work on our advocacy plan,” Ms Nola said.
“Safety for women is an underlying theme for the conference, including from family violence.
“Members are going to be doing some roundtable talks and we will be wanting their input.”
The resolutions to be debated include the CWA’s call for removing indexation of HECS debts; regulations of deductible gift recipients; fuel reduction burns; accessibility of extreme online graphical and pornographic content to children; and regulations to control misuse of artificial intelligence.
Guest speakers will include Kate Colvin from Homelessness Australia, Daniel Moorfield from SecondBite, and Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner Ro Allan.
“Aileen Lacey from Mission Australia (Victoria) will talk about young people and engaging youth,” Ms Nola said.
“This will be from the results of a recent questionnaire.
“We want to grow the capacity to teach people how to make their food go further and use leftovers.”
The annual state dinner will be held on the Friday night where Ms Nola said old friends can catch up and ‘kick up our heels’.
“And make new friends, of course.”
