Jock Lawrence, 28, is a co-founder and chief executive officer of Mobble and was recently recognised with the Qoin Small Business Young Achiever Award.
The Young Achiever awards began in 2012 with the purpose to promote, acknowledge andencourage the positive achievements of young people.
Mr Lawrence's livestock farm management software enables better decisions for agriculture by improving the way farmers record, utilise and communicate data.
Mr Lawrence completed his engineering degree about three years ago and returned to the family farm which carries between 8000 and 9000 ewes and Murray Grey cattle.
The farm needed an efficient way of recording and accessing stock details, and Mr Lawrence couldn't find anything suitable.
He spearheaded the development of the new software program and had its first sale about two years ago.
The company now has a team of six and the software is being used to manage two million head in Australia and New Zealand — largely on livestock properties, but has also been adopted for some broadacre farms.
In his acceptance speech at the Melbourne awards dinner, Mr Lawrence thanked the farmers who had supported the company through the years as well as the Mobble team and “their commitment to our vision of making life easier for farmers and simplifying farm management”.
Mr Lawrence also noted that farmers “are the reason we get out of bed every day, to make their lives easier and more successful”.
