KDHS celebrates one year of after-hours care

Kyabram District Health Service recently celebrated the first anniversary of its after-hours GP service, marking a year of delivering convenient, local healthcare to residents.

The service, which supports community members in Kyabram and surrounding districts, focuses on delivering care to patients needing urgent but non-life-threatening care outside clinic hours.

“This milestone reflects the strong need for accessible after-hours care in our community and the positive impact the service is already having for local residents,” KDHS chief executive Anne McEvoy said.

“The after-hours GP service plays an important role in supporting our broader health system by providing care for non-emergency conditions and helping to ease pressure on our emergency department.”

Beyond being available after-hours, the service ensures seamless care by forwarding test results to patients' regular general practitioners and helping those without a GP find local clinics welcoming new patients.

The medical team has expanded over the first year of operation, with three experienced GPs now working alongside nursing staff in the clinic, enhancing the service’s ability to provide high-quality care.

“We look forward to continuing to build on this service and working closely with our community to ensure people can access the care they need, when they need it,” Ms McEvoy said.

The AHGP Service is fully bulk billed, with online bookings available via HotDoc.
