Political foot traffic on the banks of Lake Eppalock has increased significantly in the past few months as Rochester’s Flood Mitigation Group continues to call for action to be taken on the controlled release of water.

With the support of Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell and State Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh, the flood mitigation group is aiming to have flood gates installed on site to allow for better management of the water storage facility’s overflow.
Most recently, Victorian Water Minister Harriet Shing was hosted on site by Campaspe Shire Council and Mr Walsh visited with members of the Rochester group last week.
A revealing photograph showed the damage caused when the road and spillway were ripped out when the water came over the emergency spillway, not the main one.
