You know the talk: “lots of moving parts in that”, “we’ll circle back to that”, “moving forward”.
The comedy pair, chief disruptor James Schloeffel and his customer engagement officer Charles Firth, had the corporate patter well rehearsed and came to Shepparton with their workshop slides and overheads.
They even tailored their presentation to the Shepparton audience, with cracks about the potholes on the Nagambie Fwy bypass and a newly emerging Shepparton icon.
“We’re not going to do what all other consultants do: charge an obscene amount of money, present a 300-page report you will never read and create a big pear project.”
One of the architects of the proposed big pear project, Rocky Varapodio, was in the audience and seemed to take it in good humour.
None of the HR people in the audience walked out, so maybe there was some truth in the satire.
Don’t say: “Chatted to a person in another department.” Say you’re breaking down the silos. As if you’re a farmer who has inexplicably decided to deconstruct a row of 200 cubic metre grain storage facilities in order to foster better working practices.”– Wankernomics.
