Murrindindi Shire Mayor Damien Gallagher said the show gave the town and district a financial shot in the arm, but this year would be an important lift to the town, which was still recovering from the January fires.
“This iconic event is much more than a showcase of incredible trucks, utes and street rods. It is a celebration of community, resilience and the people who help keep regional Australia moving,” Cr Gallagher said.
This year’s event comes at an important time for Murrindindi Shire.
Following the challenges our communities have faced over recent months, opportunities to come together, support local businesses, reconnect with friends and celebrate what makes our region special have never mattered more.
For more than two decades, the Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show has brought people together from across Victoria and beyond.
“It honours the transport, timber and agricultural industries that are part of the fabric of our region, while also recognising the hardworking people behind them — the drivers, operators, volunteers, families, organisers and local businesses who make this event possible year after year,” he said.
“The show is also an important reminder of the strength of country communities. Whether you are here exhibiting a vehicle, volunteering behind the scenes, supporting a local community group, or simply enjoying a great day out with family and friends, you are contributing to something that means a great deal to Alexandra and the wider Murrindindi community.
“Council is proud to support this incredible event and the dedicated committee and volunteers who work tirelessly to bring it to life.
“Events like this not only showcase the best of rural Victoria, they also play a vital role in supporting local jobs, tourism and economic recovery for our communities,’’ Cr Gallagher said.
Using data collection programs, the shire has calculated that an average weekend generates about $86,000 of spending in the region, while for last year’s truck show, the figure reached $532,000.
“It has a massive impact on the community,”
