The McCartney family’s Yentrac Poll Dorset stud won Supreme Ram from a large field of entries and also Reserve Champion Ewe.
Supreme Ewe and Supreme Exhibit were won by the Mitchell family’s Rene stud at Culcairn, NSW.
The show drew more than 260 entries from across the eastern seaboard and Tasmania.
The McCartney’s ram, Yentrac 95/23, came up through the competition, first winning Rams Born After April 1 and machine shorn not more than 28 days before judging, before winning Senior Poll Dorset and then Grand Champion award.
The same ram then went up against champion rams from previous competitions to be judged the prestigious 2024 Champion of Champions for the year’s showing season, an award worth $3000.
The ram was then sold at the event’s sale to Richard Hawkens, Thurlstone, NSW for $10,000.
Yentrac will hold its on-property ram sale in Tatura on Wednesday, September 25.
