The show blends Damian’s skills as a storyteller and character actor to examine the quirks, traditions and personalities of Australian halls and meeting places.
But this performance will be personal, with Damian spending time with the Dookie community ahead of the show to learn the hall’s own history.
He will also produce a podcast documenting its story.
Riverlinks manager Matthew Schroeders said the project was a fitting tribute to a true community hub.
“Damian Callinan’s ability to capture the humour, history and heart of places like this makes the experience both deeply local and universally relatable,” he said.
Locals are invited to share memories of the hall, big, small, funny or heartfelt, by contacting marketing@riverlinksvenues.com.au or phoning 5832 9865.
A meet-and-greet will also be held at the hall on Wednesday, July 8 from 3pm to 4.30pm and 6.30pm to 8pm, where community members can bring along photos, posters or memorabilia to be included in the performance.
Tickets can be booked online at riverlinksvenues.com.au or call the box office on 5832 9511.
