We are very fortunate to have such generous sponsorship in addition to the magnificent facilities provided by ClubMulwala and members of our club are very grateful for both.
Monday, April 1 saw club challenge number three for the year, which was contested by a large field.
Dan Young, who has not been playing as regularly as he would like due to work commitments, played excellent snooker through qualifying rounds and the final to take out Nev Page in a commanding performance.
Congratulations go to Dan on playing so well and Nev for making the evening’s ultimate frame.
The Digger’s Tribute event is dedicated to the sacrifices of our armed forces members and is one of our prized titles. Monthly qualifying rounds provide players the opportunity to accumulate points that determine places within an end of year finals series, which is always a hard-fought event within itself.
Adrian Ridley provided a clinic on Monday, April 8 when he took out the April Diggers Tribute round with stunning play in qualifying rounds and the final, in which he defeated Heie Hansen.
Heie performed very well to make the final, but Adrian was in stunning form with a number of high quality breaks that captured the attention of all fortunate enough to be in the snooker room.
The highlight of Adrian’s evening was a stunning 82 that he put together against Michael Barclay, which was accompanied by several high 40s and other very strong breaks in qualifying matches and the final frame.
The social event of Wednesday, April 3 saw Michael Barclay cleaning up Nev Page to take the ClubMulwala voucher.
Debbie Harbrow also defeated Nev when she took the Wednesday, April 10 event. Congratulations to both Michael and Debbie on their well-deserved victories and Nev on his consistent form.
As can be seen on the ClubMulwala website, its members newsletter and our ClubMulwala Snooker Club Facebook page we welcome new members or anyone who may like to give snooker a try.
ClubMulwala sponsors our club very generously so our value for money ratio for players is very high indeed.
There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening and there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join or come along to try our facilities out. We have two excellently maintained full size tables, which have recently been re-surfaced and a new state of the art lighting system.
Our snooker room is available for competition, practice and visitor use, and the club has its own regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally.
There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players (including the current Oceania Masters champion) who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.
Please contact us on either 0497 062 443 or 0418 361 779 or visit us on a Wednesday evening before 7pm if you would like to give snooker a try.
