Neil and Tracy Smith spent a whole day setting up the impressive LEGO display at the Nathalia Show. Tracy has a business called Border Bricks which buys and sells LEGO.The couple put a lot of work into making the display one of the big attractions at this year’s show. LEGO master Fleur Watkins attended the show and judged the LEGO exhibits.

A good crowd turned out for the Nathalia Show on Saturday, with strong interest in the competitions, arena events, the pet parade and the LEGO competition.

An estimated 1200 people passed through the gate.

Show secretary Ellen Morcombe said they had received some positive feedback on how the revitalised event worked out.

“We’ve got more young people on the committee who have taken on the roles previously run by older people for decades,” she said.

Horse event entries were down slightly, and may have been influenced by uncertainty over the ground conditions due to recent rain, but there were sufficient entries to be competitive.

“The pet parade was a standout with so many kids with different animals,’’ Ms Morcombe said.

“The LEGO competition was very popular, too, in its second year.”

Two junior paraders — sisters Jessie Ash, 8, and Bobbie Ash, 7, from Paringa Farms Holsteins — went home with rosettes after being placed first and second, respectively, in the under-12 handlers section of Nathalia Show.
The catering crew in the main pavilion at Nathalia Show comprised women from the Uniting Church (from left) Elizabeth Davis, Leigh Gifford, Nina Pell and Marcia Murrell, with Carmen Gilson at the back.
Lexie Smith, 14, won the Miss Teen quest at last Saturday’s Nathalia Show. Lexie, the daughter of Pam and Alastair Smith, attends St Mary of the Angels Secondary College. She lives on a small farm and likes cattle.
Kristy Craddock, 14, from Benalla on Welsh Mountain pony, Natt River Dawnlight, with friend Brooke Doolan, 14, from Sydney at the Nathalia Show on Saturday. Dawnlight was judged the Supreme Ridden Horse of the show, as well as Champion Hunter Pony. Both girls were placed in the Smartest on Parade class in their age group.
