Mr Quirk died on October 10 in Shepparton at the age of 88.
He volunteered for the CFA, schools and the Shepparton Agricultural Society.
He was the third generation of the Quirks to farm at Arcadia since the land was settled by John Patrick and William Quirk who had migrated from Tipperary, Ireland.
He developed the Muddy Creek Angus Stud in conjunction with cropping and sheep, and was still active on the farm up until two years ago, when he moved to supported accommodation.
Mr Quirk was named Arcadia’s Citizen of the Year in 2012.
He was a past captain of the Arcadia CFA, was involved in the Progress and Landcare groups and was active with the Shepparton Agricultural Society where he served a term as president.
Mr Quirk is survived by wife, Margorie, whom he married in 1960, and they had sons Brian, (deceased), Dennis and Tim and daughters Joan and Maureen.
Recent flooding has delayed his funeral which is expected to be held at the Murchison Catholic Church.
A date had not been set and arrangements are in the hands of Merrit Funerals.
