Asphoweld founder Andrew McNaughton couldn’t quite justify buying a new tractor for the small amount of work required on his farm, so the keen welder created a car trailer able to hitch and haul hay instead.
“I was pretty happy with the outcome so I made some small improvements on the design and continued to build more to sell to other farmers,” Andrew said.
“We supply in equal proportion to both hobby farmers and commercial farmers.
“Many of our hobby farmer customers have a small number of livestock to feed, but still require a way of feeding out hay bales.
“A number of our commercial farmers use the hay trailer to service their outblocks when they don’t otherwise require a second tractor.”
Asphoweld plans to bring two different style round bale trailers to the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, with an option of either electric or manual winch.
“Many of our customers comment that the hay trailers make a huge positive difference to their workload on their farm,” Andrew said.
The trailers are made completely in-house at Toolamba from first-grade Australian steel sourced locally.
With the price of steel rising, Asphoweld has gone all in and purchased a bulk order of first-grade Australian steel so the business can continue to deliver orders without interruptions to supply and unexpected price increases.
Customers will be able to place an order for their preferred trailer at Asphoweld’s expo site at XXXX.
